Silver Foiling

Our silver foiling can be used for more or less any printed item. Customers often ask what the difference between normal printing (from an inkjet printer or a laser jet printer) and foiling. The simple answer is the shine that foiling provides. The real metallic shine that you get on a foiled printed material simply cannot be achieved with an inkjet printer or a laser printer.

Silver Printing
Silver foil printing looks absolutely beautiful on more or less all cardstock except Silver, of course. Customers sometimes ask if there is a slight conflict with printing Silver on White cardstock – there is not. Whilst in our opinion, silver does not look as good as Gold foiling on White cardstock, it is still very nice and visible. This really comes down to personal preference. However, what we can advise is that having silver prints done on top of dark backgrounds is where it is at its most effective. The dark background and the silver print combination complement each other so well. As it is more effective with darker colour backgrounds, we recommend to customers that if you have an evening event (dinner and dance, wedding reception party, Christmas party etc) and need some stationery for that (menus, table numbers, place cards, welcome signs etc), Silver foil printing is a truly stunning option. It is also a conversation starter. As you can see from our above foiled wedding table menu example, the customer opted for a ‘starry / galaxy’ theme background. We then foiled their menu option on top and good great feedback. This was also laminated using a ‘soft touch’ laminate.
What we require to get started with your Silver foil printing
We aim to make this process as simple as possible. If you want a readymade item, we have a range of wedding invitations, wedding stationery, posters etc available on our website. More or less every option that we have on our website can be personalised. If you have a design available and would like us to foil it for you, we require the following:
- Everything in the file that you would like to be foiled in silver (all the text and graphics) to be a solid black colour (CMYK settings; C=0, M=0, Y=0 and K=100)
- What cardstock would you like the print to be printed on (do you need a background)?
- The quantity required
- Do you need any personalisation i.e. place cards to have individual names
- Do you require any lamination?
- The file to be sent to us in an editable .pdf format (info@cardfusion.co.uk)
Tips To Consider for Silver Foiling
As mentioned, when looking at Silver foiling bear in mind the colour of the cardstock or the background (to avoid any conflict of colours). We want our customers to have a ‘wow’ feeling when they see the end product and we will always try our best to advise if there are any issues / colour conflicts. As always, make sure that the font used is readable and clean. Also make sure that any graphics used is high quality.
